Seoul City Hall

Built in 2012, an eco-friendly building decorates the city with its unique architectural design with edgy glass exterior walls. The Green Wall being the top sight, it holds over 70,000 plants of 14 different species. Spanning over an area of 1516m2, its seven floors high, making it gain a place in the Guinness World Records book as the longest vertical garden in the world! Right next to the City Hall, you can also find a Seoul Library (where PSY filmed its ‘Gangnam style’ video, and Seoul Plaza (where many events are held all year-round, including an ice skating rink in winter!).

Deoksugung palace

A sumptuous palace of Daehan Empire (1897-1910) manifests a pleasant combination of traditional and modern Korean architecture. Step into a Jeonggwanheon Pavilion and take in the King’s rest area back in the days, but once you visit the Seokjojeon Hall will take you to a Western-style décor. The palace is great for observing the guard changing ceremony (as it is held 3 times a day), and is the only palace in Seoul, which you can visit in the evenings too!

Cheonggyecheon Stream

An artificial 10.84km stream runs from artistic Cheonggye Plaza all the way into the Han river. Built during the Joseon Dynasty, it was once buried underground, before it came back to the form it is today. Take a pleasant walk along the stream and enjoy various attractions along the way. Every autumn, there is also lantern Festival of lights world visiting!

Namsangol Hanok Village

Opened in 1998, it has five distinct, traditional Korean houses, ranging from peasant to aristocrat residences. The place consists of various gardens, art displays, cafes, and sometimes live performances. It is a great place to take a stroll and admire the views of Seoul (as the view towards Seoul station is truly spectacular).

Myeong-dong

A famous shopping district where one can easily lose track of time. Streets packed with luxury department stores, alleys covered with street vendors, it is a place well loved by the tourists. There is a number of international and tradition restaurants, as well as street food stands. Nearby, you can find 19th century gothic-style Myeong-dong Cathedral as well as Nanta Theatre offering a number of traditional and comical shows.
