Taehwagang National Garden 

Along the Taehwagang River, which provides drinking water to the citizens of Ulsan, there is a great bamboo forest covering over 4km in length and an impressive 20-40km in width. It was created by the villagers themselves, who believed that it would help prevent the concurrent floods during the Japanese colonial times. It is also extremely beautiful in Spring, when over 60 million flowers blossom in their full beauty!

Ilsan’s beach will make you forget you are in one of the most industrial cities of South Korea. Stretching over 600meters, its soft golden sand will make you linger there for a while longer. With over 32,000 employees, the plant produces over 5,800 vehicles a day! The plant also has the forest with over 600,000 trees, a testing station the size of 100 football fields and 20km of road to try out the new vehicles!

Ulsan Museum

Opened in 2011, it is not only a great place to learn about Korean and local history, but also to admire the unique modern building perfected with the reflecting pools surrounding it. Here, you can find more information about whales, ships and cars, and also about the Buddhists, temples and Silla Kingdom. It is a great place offering a free entry and a great time guaranteed!

Gajisan Provincial Park 

With a peak at 1,241m height, it is the biggest peak of Yeongnam Alps. As you’ve guessed it, due to its height and location, the mountain boasts stunning views each season- azaleas in spring, autumn foliage in fall, snowy peaks in winter and greenery in the summer months. If you have a chance, try to visit the mountain in the spring, when all the surrounding mountains paint pink and red. There, you can also find the Seongnamsa Temple to relax and take in the Korean history.

Seongnamsa Temple 

Found on the south of Gajisan mountain, the temple was built in 824 A.D. However, in the later years (during the Japanese Invasions) the original temple was destroyed, and so what you see now is the replica rebuilt back in 1674. Even with its cruel history, the temple remains home to many Buddhist nuns, which you can meet on your visit there.

Sinbulsan

A must visit walking destination in the outstanding natural beauty beholding Yeongnam Alps. Although the peak is 1,209 meters height, the wooden paths make it easier to reach it. There, you will be able to admire the famous Ganwoljae Flame Grass Road, covered in a sea of swaying flame grass making it a sight to admire. It is a great adventure as the natural beauty of Korea will make you never want to leave. Also, on the Sinbulsan’s western slopes you can find the stunning Paraeso Falls. Although the falls are beautiful in itself, but it is well noting that swimming there is prohibited.

A perfect addition to any itinerary, a visit to this organic Korean wine makery will make you think differently about Korean alcoholic drinks. If you’ve heard about makgeolli before, you might already know that it is different from other wines. Here at Boksoondoga, they make the rice wine from locally harvested rice, with a traditional Korean yeast and onggi. The flavor is rich and mild due to its organic ingredients. There is also a souvenir shop if you’d like to get some more for a perfect evening or as a souvenir.

A place where you can greet the sun the earliest on the eastern coast. There is also a rocky promontory, a lighthouse and a cluster of monuments and sculptures down by the lighthouse. They say that if you write your wish on a postcard there and put it in the second-largest post box on the planet, your wish just might come true!
