K-Pop Demon Hunters in Real Life: Your Self-Guided Route Through Seoul
When KPop Demon Hunters took the world by storm, it did more than give us the most addictive soundtrack of the decade. It handed fans a love letter to Seoul. The film's creators studied real streets, rooftops and skylines so closely that you can stand in the city and recognise the scenes around you.
Whether you're a devoted Hunter planning your first trip to Korea or you're already in Seoul and looking for a magical day out, this route connects the real places that inspired the film. You can explore them at your own pace, in one big day or two relaxed ones.
A quick note: KPop Demon Hunters is an animated film, so these are the real places that inspired its scenes rather than live-action filming sets. Seeing them in person is half the fun!
Part 1: Traditional Seoul (morning to sunset)
Start where Seoul's royal story began. The grandest of the Joseon Dynasty's palaces appears in the film's world of ancient guardians and modern idols. Rent a hanbok nearby and entry is free, and you'll get photos worthy of a HUNTR/X album cover.
Getting there: Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5. Closed Tuesdays.
Those sweeping tiled rooftops with the city rising behind them? This is where they come from. Bukchon's lanes of traditional hanok houses capture the film's signature blend of old and new Seoul. It's a living neighbourhood, so visit between 10:00 and 17:00 and keep your voice low.
Getting there: A 15-minute walk from the palace, or Line 3 to Anguk Station, Exit 2.
3. Naksan Park and the Seoul City Wall (sunset)
For many fans, this is the most moving stop on the route. The ancient fortress wall winding through Naksan Park is where Rumi and Jinu meet on a quiet night above the city. Arrive before sunset, walk along the wall as the lights of Seoul flicker on, and you'll understand why it became a fan favourite.
Getting there: Line 4 to Hyehwa Station, Exit 2, then a 15-minute uphill walk through the Ihwa Mural Village.
Part 2: K-pop Seoul (afternoon into night)
4. COEX K-Pop Square
The giant wraparound LED screen at COEX is one of Seoul's most famous digital billboards. Fans will recognise it from the scene during "Golden," when passers-by stop to watch the music video. Stand beneath it, look up, and wait for the next 3D display to roll around.
Getting there: Line 2 to Samseong Station. The screen faces the street outside COEX.
5. Lotte World Tower and Seoul Olympic Stadium
Korea's tallest skyscraper features in the film's city skyline, and the observatory at the top, Seoul Sky, gives you the view the Hunters protect. Nearby, the Olympic Stadium in Jamsil, the stage for some of K-pop's biggest concerts, is where the film's opening performance takes place. The stadium has been undergoing renovation, so check access before you go.
Getting there: Line 2 or 8 to Jamsil Station for Lotte World Tower; Line 2 to Sports Complex Station for the stadium.
6. Myeongdong
The bright shopping street where the Saja Boys perform "Soda Pop" is every bit as lively in real life. Come in the evening when the street-food stalls light up: tteokbokki, egg bread and hotteok are all a few steps apart.
Getting there: Line 4 to Myeongdong Station.
End where the film reaches its spectacular finale. Ride the Namsan cable car up from Myeongdong and watch the city glow beneath you. It's the perfect, unforgettable ending to your Demon Hunters day.
Getting there: A 10–15-minute walk from Myeongdong Station, Exit 3 or 4, to the Namsan cable car.
Tips for Your KPop Demon Hunters Day
Split it across two days if you can. Part 1 is all central Seoul; Part 2 sits mainly south of the Han River.
Get a T-money or WOWPASS card at any convenience store. Every stop here is on the subway.
Use Naver Map or KakaoMap, not Google Maps, for walking directions.
Look out for pop-up stores and themed cafés. Seoul regularly hosts KPop Demon Hunters events and merchandise pop-ups, so check social media during your dates.
