Darangee Village Rice Terraces
A small village famous for its stunning terraces of paddy fields located on the steep cliff right in front of the stunning sea views. The village holds over 100 levels of rice paddy fields and uses the traditional farming methods, making it even a more spectacular place to see!
Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch
The only farm that raises sheep in Korea, it is a great destination for the animal lovers and a great stop to escape the stress of a busy city. There, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the hills, as well as feed the cute sheep and take numerous pictures!
German Village
Built to accommodate Koreans who returned from living in Germany for many years, the village has numerous German-style houses, featuring white walls with orange rooftops. The place is also perfect for experiencing the German culture at the Namhae German Exhibition Hall and German Culture Experience center. Make sure to also try the German sausages or other German dishes for a full experience!
Hallyeohaesang National Park
The largest national park in Namhae, the mountain offers stunning views of the whole island. You can take an easy hike up to Geumsan Mountain. On the way up, don’t forget to visit the beautiful Irak and Chungryeol Shrines.
Sangju Silver Sand Beach
With its clean and clear waters, Namhae is a perfect place to enjoy the fun filled water sports in the hot days of the summer. The beach is over 2km long and is one of the most famous beaches in Namhae, as its location between the mountains offers not only stunning views, but also creates gentle waves and shallow water, ideal for water activities.
Boriam Temple
Located at the top of Geumsan Mountain, the temple offers a perfect place to rest and admire the views of the sea. Did you know that it was originally namedBogwangsa Temple?However, whenKing Taejo began the Joseon Dynasty after praying here for 100 days, the temple was then deemed a main prayer space for the general public and was renamedto Boriam. Don’t forget to make a wish while you’re there, as the legend has it that its visitors will be granted one wish at the temple!
Jukbangryeom
Perfect place for fishing lovers. This unique fishing practice uses bamboo poles to set a trap in the waters, making it one of the most unique fishing practices found across South Korea. The traps often catch anchovies, mackerel pikes, shrimps and other delicious local fishes. Thus, trying out the seafood in Namhae is a MUST!
